Tooth Decay

Unfortunately, tooth decay is very common in the population and is caused by normal tooth bacteria feeding on sugary food debris in the mouth and produce plaque and acids that eat away at the surface enamel until a soft cavity or hole is formed. In severe decay, the cavity may be very deep and affects the nerve and blood vessels in the central part (the pulp). Your risk of tooth decay is increased if you frequently eat sugary foods and drinks which sit on the teeth for long periods of time because of inadequate brushing.

If you have received a letter from Dental Works to join our Dental Plan and choose not to do so, please be reassured YOU ARE STILL A VALUED PATIENT AT THE PRACTICE and can be seen on an independent basis, with no further action required.
